After months of delays, the historic SS United States ocean liner finally moved out of Philadelphia on a new voyage as it prepares to become the world's largest artificial reef off the Florida coast. John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois have details.

The ocean liner that ferried four presidents across the Atlantic Ocean, hosted Duke Ellington and Sylvia Plath, and captured the world’s imagination in the mid-20th century has begun its final voyage. Leaving Philadelphia, where it has been rusting for decades, the ship, the S.S. United States, is bound this time for the bottom of the sea.

After nearly 30 years, the historic -- and long-rusting -- SS United States departed Philadelphia on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025. It's embarking on a journey to the coast of Florida, where it will be sunk and eventually turned into an artificial reef.
