Since being towed to a dock in South Philadelphia nearly 30 years ago, the SS United States has captivated people who have seen the ocean liner’s towering smoke stacks and giant hull, easily visible from the New Jersey side of the Delaware River and by those traveling over the Walt Whitman Bridge.
