The SS United States Conservancy is always looking for volunteers to help us save “America’s Flagship” and document and celebrate her legacy. There are many ways to get involved! We seek volunteers with interests and expertise in historic preservation and archival work, social media, writing & editing, event planning, government relations, product design & merchandizing, videography, and much more. If you have some extra time, we would be happy to put you to work! No matter where you are in the world, you can make your voice known and educate people about the SS United States and the global campaign underway to save her. Write to your federal, state, and local officials. Draft a “letter to the editor” to your local newspaper. Post a blog entry. Pitch a story to a local media outlet. Urge your employer to become a Corporate Sponsor of the Conservancy. Encourage your friends, colleagues, or community organizations to purchase and personal virtual pieces of the ship at SavetheUnitedStates.org. Educate the press on the historical significance of the SS United States. Take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions page for many interesting facts and details about the Big U that will help you go out in your community and talk about the vessel and the work being done to save her. Contact us if you need brochures and membership forms to distribute to individuals, businesses and legislators in your area. You can reach us at info@ssusc.org or at (215) 680-3983. Be sure to let us know what you are doing to promote the ship and its legacy so that we can acknowledge your efforts and feature you or your organization in our member newsletter and our social media outlets.
