In addition to financial contributions, supporters across the nation have held events and
contributed to our mission in many unique ways. Some of these include:


JULIANNA SUKEL

A thirteen year old living in Tonawanda, NY, planned an art show with a friend to raise awareness about the ship and funds to save it. By selling buttons, pins, and drawings featuring the SS United States, she was able to raise $101 dollars!


ANDREW JELONEK

Held a donut sale at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA, raising $265 for our cause! He also showed the “Lady in Waiting” DVD to raise awareness.


MARILYN PHARO

Hosted an event showing the “Lady In Waiting” DVD to a group of 30 and led a discussion following up on Susan Gibb’s USA Today article on the SS United States and the Titanic in Cape May, NJ .


TIM EWING

Completed a donut sale at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA, raising $265 for our cause! He also showed the “Lady in Waiting” DVD to raise awareness.


JEFF IRWIN

Organized a dinner and presentation by Susan Gibbs at a church frequented by many of the shipyard’s retired ship builders in Newport News, VA.


ROSS PARKER

A 15-year-old from New Market, AL, created a remarkable pen and ink drawing of the SS United States, which he donated to us to auction at one of our 60th Anniversary events.


VORI KRIARIS

Combined his passion for the SS United States with his career as a window designer to create two ship-tastic window displays in prestigious Center City business storefronts in Philadelphia, PA.


BRIAN HAAGENSTEN

Organized a gathering at the Thames Club in New London, CT, featuring a presentation by Susan Gibbs.
